Introduction to Renewable Energy Weekend Courses, Wales

The dates of the next two Introduction to Renewable Energy Weekend Courses at the School of Education and Lifelong Learning, University of Wales, Aberystwyth, Mid-Wales, will be 15, 16 & 17 February 2005
and 18, 19 & 20 March 2005. The courses will cover the basic principles of solar electricity, solar water heating, wind energy, micro-hydro, and biomass as well as their applications for homes, businesses and farms.

The courses are an ideal way to learn about the nuts and bolts of this increasingly important range of technologies. They are suitable for anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to renewable energy technology, as well as those wishing to install renewable energy systems in urban or rural settings. The emphasis is on how things work, what is practical to do, and participants will have the opportunity to develop their own projects.

The courses are equally valuable to people with no technical knowledge or wiyh an engineering background. On completion of the course participants should be able to select an appropriate technology for a given situation, do installation sizing calculations (e.g. size of wind turbine or number of solar panels) and specify type of system (e.g. stand-alone, grid connect, system components required.) A completion certificates will be
awarded to all participants.
