Wanted ! Scotland's Greenest Businesses
Posted: 08/02/2006
The search is on for Scotlands leading environmentally-friendly businesses after the Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards 2006 were officially launched at the Scottish Energy and Environment Conference in Glasgow. Now in their seventh year, the VIBES awards are managed by a partnership of organisations including the Scottish Executive, the Federation of Small Businesses in Scotland and CBI Scotland, and are sponsored by Rolls Royce Inchinnan and Allied Distillers, both previous national winners.
The awards are open to any business and organisation across Scotland that brings benefits to its bottom line through improvements to environmental performance. Aiming to recognise and reward these achievements, VIBES is open to Scottish organisations of all sizes, whatever sector they are in. The launch is set to take place at the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow.
Commenting on the launch of the VIBES awards, Niall Stuart, Head of Press and Parliamentary Affairs for the Federation of Small Businesses in Scotland said: "With ever-increasing waste and energy costs it is now more important than ever before for businesses to be aware of their impact on the environment.
"The VIBES Awards, Scotland's environmental business awards, are a great incentive for companies to demonstrate and shout about their environmental commitment. And, rewarding these efforts through these awards is a great way to encourage Scottish businesses to see the opportunities to cut waste, energy and water costs by becoming more environmentally responsible."
Frazer Scott, chair of the VIBES Awards added: VIBES is inviting organisations to take advantage of this high profile opportunity to see their visionary practices rewarded. So many out there are acting sustainably and reaping the financial benefits. We want to publicly recognise them and encourage others to follow their lead.
Commenting on the VIBES awards, Colin Campbell, production and HR director of Airdrie based Albert Bartlett & Sons, said: "As a national winner in 2005, I strongly recommend applying for a VIBES award, an excellent scheme that rewards companies which realise that implementing environmentally-friendly schemes is good for business and makes financial sense too."
Businesses and organisations can obtain an application form by contacting Linsey McGillivray, VIBES Awards co-ordinator on 01896 754
