Warmer Homes Greener Herts
Posted: 06/03/2006
Homeowners in Hertfordshire are being urged to take advantage of the Warmer Homes Greener Herts campaign in order to save energy. The scheme can help people find grants and discounts in order to save energy. In the face of rising energy bills, energy efficiency in the home is becoming increasingly important, and measures such as installing insulation can help save money and the environment.
Broxbourne council is urging residents to contact the scheme's free phone service in order to get advice to meet their own personal circumstances. A council spokesperson said: "Loft and cavity wall insulation can make a huge difference. Around 40 per cent of the heat you pay for could be escaping through un-insulated lofts and walls.
"This makes loft and cavity wall insulation two of the most cost effective ways to prevent heat loss and reduce the amount of fuel needed to keep your home warm."
The council notes that everyone is entitled to a discount on the cost of installing insulation under the Energy Efficiency Commitment scheme, and some can have it done for free.
